The Generals faced Wayland Baptist for Day 2 of the Queens Classic, falling 52-78.
Coming out of the tip-off strong, the Generals battled the Queens for the entire 10 minutes of the 1
st Quarter only trailing the Queens 11-15. However, the Generals offense became cold as they only put up 4 points compared to the Queens 26 in the 2
nd Quarter which lead the Generals going into half-time trailing 15-41.
Coach Perkins stated that while in the locker room at halftime they discussed "being physical and more patient on the offensive end". This locker room chat translated to the court as the Generals came out in the 3
rd quarter out scoring Wayland Baptist 22-21. The battle continued into the 4
th period as the Generals were only outscored 15-16. However, despite a strong second half from the Generals, Wayland was able to pull off the win.
"I was proud of the team," said Perkins, "We out rebounded a big Wayland team. We had good energy and didn't back down".
The Generals were able to out rebound Wayland 49-48. Leading scorer for the Generals,
Amani Gray, was able to grab 10 of those 49 rebounds while also scoring 15 points. We were also able to see
Dannah Martin-Hartwick with a strong offensive day scoring 13 points of her own.
The Generals next game will be on the road once again on November 19
th as they face Southern U. New Orleans. Game time is set for 3:00 PM.
