Holly Springs, MS- Hoping to continue the win streak and go 5-0 the Generals took on the Rust Bearcats and came up short, losing the first game of the 2022-2023 season, 73-82.
The Bearcats were able to come out strong on both sides of the floor shooting 57% from the field compared to the Generals 41%. The Generals were also outrebounded for the night having only 26 rebounds compared to the Bearcats 37.
"I told the guys in the locker room before the game we have two main goals for today," said Cordaro, "keep the turnovers under 13 and keep those guys off the glass. It was a tough loss to a good Rust team, but we will learn and get better from it."
Leading scorer for the Generals was Mitchell Seraille, who had 13 points and a team high of 7 rebounds. Following with 12 points of his own was Desmond McQuain, who also led the Generals on assist for the night with 5.
The men's basketball team will be back on the road heading to New Orleans, LA for a match up against Southern U. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM.
