SAN ANTONIO - The LSUA Generals (5-3-3) traveled to San-Antonio to play TAMUSA (5-3-3) in the first round of the RRAC Tournament escaping with a 2-1 win to move on to the next round.
The Generals were quick to score with forward, Daniel Torrenegra opening the scoring in the 7th minute of the first half on a penalty kick. The Jags had a response for the Generals, and would go on and score in the 12th minute tying the game 1-1. Generals, Torrenegra scored again to retake the lead in the 29th minute, leading 2-1 going into halftime.
In the second half an altercation happened between 2 players causing both players to receive their second yellow card leaving both teams a man short. This didn't stop the Generals as they went on to finish the game 2-1.
"It was a tough game against a good TAMUSA team," said LSUA Interim Head Coach Mackenzie Young. "They were a well organized group and had a good game plan. I am proud of the boys for showing character to get in front after the equalizer and seeing the game out until the end. This was a team effort today, now we look to prepare for our trip to Texarkana next week."
Next Thursday, November 10th, the Generals will face LSUS in the semifinal of the RRAC Tournament.
