Alexandria, LA- The Generals hosted the first conference matchup between them and the Eagles of Texarkana. Texarkana came into The Fort, leading conference 5-0 before their 68-59 win over the Generals, placing them now at 6-0 in Red River Conference play.
The Generals were off to a slow start at first, trailing 14-7 after the first quarter. However, they began to heat up in the 2
nd closing the Eagles lead to 26-20. Coming out of half-time the Generals still had a lot of fight left in them and continued chipping, once again trailing by only six points (42-37) going into the 4
th quarter. Generals put up a hard fight scoring 22 of their 59 points in the 4
th quarter, however the Eagles ultimately were able to seal the win.
Leading scorer for the Generals was
Dannah Martin-Hartwick who had 15 points against the Eagles. Coming in adding 13 points of her own was,
Amani Gray. Overall, the Generals didn't shoot their typical number with only a 34.7% shooting average on the night compared to the Eagles 43.3%.
The Generals also put up a hard battle on the glass for the night but were outrebounded 31-37. However, it was
Amani Gray who was able to lead in rebounds grabbing 9 out of the Generals 31 boards.
The Generals will be taking a break from conference play to see a match up from D1, ULL. The game will take place in Lafayette, tip-off is set for 6:00 PM.
