Generals Drop a Close One to LSUS

Shreveport, LA- The LSUA Generals, now 0-3 in conference, took a trip to take on rival, LSUS. After a long hard battle that showed, both heart and fight from the Generals, they came up short to LSUS 60-64.

The Generals started out the game with a triple from Amani Gray, and then went on a 7-0 run before the Pilots answered back. The Generals held on to the lead for almost the entire 1st period until there was 2:37 left and a few turnovers from the Generals lead to the Pilots taking the lead and going on a run of their own. Generals ended up trailing 17-24 after the 1st period but battled back in the 2nd period going into halftime tied with the Pilots at 34 points.

Coming out of halftime the Generals and Pilots battled, but it wasn't until the 4th period that the Generals were able to regain the lead at 55-54 with 6:07 left to play. Generals held that lead until there was 4:31 left, when a bucket from Pilots, Kiara Collins put them ahead. Pilots were able to seal the deal after that.

"The girls fought hard tonight, and really played good as a team, "said Perkins, "I was very proud of our effort and their willingness to keep working throughout the whole game".

Generals shot a 42.6% compared to Shreveport's, 39%. Leading scorers for the Generals were point guard, Dannah Martin-Hartwick with 15 points, and Amani Gray with 13 points. Gray was also able to grab 7 of the General's 33 boards, along with Alex Harrison who also had 7 boards.

The Generals will be at home next taking on Paul Quinn for more conference play on December 15th with tip off set for 5:00 PM.
