Baton Rouge, LA – The Generals were defeated Thursday by Southern University. After a good start and an early goal by Rosanna Freeman, The Generals were not able to hold off the pressure by the Jaguars on the road. In the 27th minute Aniya Clark scored the equalizer, giving hope and bringing the energy up for the home team, before the end of the first half.
Southern continued to put on pressure to start the second half. In the 55th minute, Kyra Reeves was able to find herself in a good position to finish and score for the Jaguars. With the goal, the jaguars won the game against LSUA.
The Generals were outshot 28 to 9. From those 9 shots, only four made it to the goal.
"Tough game today against a very strong and athletic side. We showed our qualities in glimpses today and played some decent soccer. Today was a great test for the squad and hopefully will prepare us for the start of conference play, on Thursday", said Coach Mark Hammond after the game.
The next challenge for the women's soccer team, will be on the 22nd of September, where they will have their first conference game at home, against HOUSTON-VICTORIA at 1:00 PM.
