An early defensive lapse by the
LSUA (2-3, 0-1) allowed University of Houston- Victoria to record the only score of the game.
Meghan Matcek took an assist from
Mia Martinez that proved to be enough to give a Jaguars a 1-0 victory of LSUA.
The Generals were unable to convert their three shot attempts on goal despite controlling the tempo for majority of the game. Coach
Mark Hammond was not able to secure the clean sheet as desired, but did appreciate the efforts put forth by his players.
"We battled to the end and we had the better game", said Hammond. "We just didn't take our chances when they came our way. Sometimes you just have days like that."
The game was hard fought but it was also not without controversy, as officials made a questionable call against LSUA. The Generals out shot the visitors 8-6, but the call changed the course of the game forcing the Generals to go into halftime trailing 1-0.
LSUA will look to rebound against Huston-Tillotson this Saturday at 1:00 pm. Watch the game live here:
