TYLER, TX- The Generals were able to get back into the win column as they defeated the Steers of Texas College, 64-61.
The Steers were able to come out of the tip off strong, leading the entire game, until the Generals took over in the fourth quarter.
Going into the 4
th quarter down 8 points (39-47), it was Harrison and a technical foul on the Steers that was able to get hot quick to spark the Generals offensive to take control of the game. Harrison came out with a quick lay-up to start, then
Dannah Martin-Hartwick was able to make both free-throws to cut the Steers lead down to 4 points (43-47).
Steers able to go on a 4-0 run making it now a 43-51 game still didn't put a stop to the Generals fight as it was Harrison once again, banking two back-to-back threes and a quick lay-up up from the assist of
Gracelyn Adams that tied the game up at 51-51. The rest is history as the Generals stayed hot from behind the arc and executed on defense to pull off the late comeback win.
"Very proud of the girls tonight", said Coach Perkins, "We have been fought through injuries and sickness, but all of the girls played a role in this win today".
Harrison led the way for the Generals with 25 points, but like Coach Perkins mentioned, everyone had a role and played it well for this win. Point guard Dannah Martin- Hartwick was able to contribute 16 points and dished out 7 assists. Generals were also able to see another double-double from
