Martin-Hartwick Calls Game in Overtime Against Wildcats

ALEXANDRIA, LA- The Generals were able to keep their win streak alive as they came out on top in overtime against the LCU Wildcats, 62-61.

The Fort was electric as the Generals faced Red River rivals, the LCU Wildcats, for the first time of the 2022-2023 season.

Wildcats came out strong from the tip off the game with two back-to-back lay ups before the Generals could respond, but once they did, the Generals kept it a close game. The 4th quarter had everyone's heart pacing as the Generals and Wildcats had a tied ball game at 53-53 with 39 seconds left.

Winding down those 39 seconds, Amani Gray with a lay-up and a free-throw from Dannah Martin-Hartwick lifted the Generals 56-53 over the Wildcats with 6 seconds left on the clock. However, before the Generals could celebrate victory, Wildcats Paola Abad Prieto sent the Generals into overtime with a three-point shot to beat the buzzard.

In the final 2 seconds of the game, LCU called a 30 second time out leading 61-60, but it was Dannah Martin-Hartwick who called game and defending the Fort over the Wildcats.

"After it left my hands, time stopped", said Martin-Hartwick, "Until it finally fell, I don't even think I was breathing, I think my heart stopped for a few minutes, but I'm glad it went in I'm glad we got the win".

Raegan Ojoro was also able to keep the Generals in the game as she led in scoring with 18 points and 7 rebounds.

The Generals will be back in action again at home Thursday, January 18th to take on the Rams of Huston-Tillotson. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM.
