TEXARKANA, TX-For the first time in women's soccer history, the Generals came home with a Red River Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. 
 
The redemption tour started with the Generals eliminating LCU and Xavier, then advancing on to the finals to take on the Pilots of LSUS. These three teams were the only conference losses for the Generals, but they made it count when it was win or go home. 
 
Thanks to a lone goal from Alexia Bermejo and a solid defense from the Generals, they escaped the Pilots, 1-0 and are making their way back to Alexandria with some hardware.
 
Here's what Head Coach Mark Hammond had to say about the win: "What a day for the program. This team has set a lot of records this season including most wins, longest win streak, & longest unbeaten streak but today was what we've been chasing all year. The mentality from group has been A one all year. As a group, we wanted to create a legacy & today was the start of it. I couldn't be any prouder of the girls & they have earned the right to be called champions!"
 
The Generals have now earned a bid to the NAIA National Tournament and will await to see where and who they will play.
