STERLINGTON, LA- The Generals defeat the Wildcats in opening game at the Cajun Collision
The Generals came out on top in a back-and-forth battle with the Baker University Wildcats. The Generals got on the scoreboard early, which set the tone for the game. At the top of the 1
st,
Blaise Foote reached on a fielder's choice,
Jordan Ardoin got out at second base to the shortstop,
Cameron Daigle advanced to third, and
Zach Mengarelli got home to score for the Generals.
The Wildcats answered back emphatically, as Flory hit a home run to center field to tie the game up at the bottom of the second. At the top of the 6
th and after 3 scoreless innings, the Generals made a play that would ultimately decide the game.
Cameron Daigle singled to left field and
Zach Mengarelli advanced to second, which cleared the path for
Bryson Broussard and
Jacob Martin to get home and score 2 runs for the Generals.
At the bottom of the 6
th, Flory was instrumental for the Wildcats again as he doubled to center field, which allowed Lewis to score and make the game 3-2. At the top of the 7
th, the Generals secured victory as Broussard doubled to center field and
Peyton Marcantel scored.
Cameron Daigle,
Dominic Thibodeaux and
Landon Clampit all pitched brilliantly for the Generals.
Next up for the Generals is Central Methodist on Friday February 10
th at 2:30PM for game two of the Cajun Collision. Later that day, the Generals will also take on Benedictine College at 6:00pm.
