SHREVEPORT, LA- The Generals and the Pilots share victories in 3 game series.Â
LSUA and LSUS are big red river rivals and both teams put on a great show this weekend. The Pilots managed to take game one and two of the series. The highlight for the generals in game one unfortunately came too late. The Generals were 6-0 down entering the top of the 6th. Jordan Ardoin homered to left field, which also allowed Blaise Foote and Julien Kliebert to score. That phenomenal play brought the game to 6-3, but LSUS managed to score 4 more times and the game finished 10-3.
In game two the generals got off to a hot start. At the top of the first, Jordan Ardoin grounded out to first base, Cameron Daigle advanced to third and Zach Mengarelli scored to give LSUA the lead. LSUS then scored three in a row, until Cameron Daigle homered to left field at the top of the third. At 3-2, spectators may have thought we had a game on our hands, but the generals could not build any momentum, and the pilots were able to score 5 more times to end the game 8-2.
Game three was nothing short of spectacular. After two and a half scoreless innings, LSUS took a 4-0 lead at the bottom of the third. At the top of the fifth, the Generals started to fight back. Alex Guilbeau stepped up and singled to right center which allowed Bryson Broussard to score. Julien Kliebert then stepped up to bat and he reached first from an error by the center fielder, which allowed Joshua Tinnerello to score and make the game 4-2. At the top of the sixth, Bryson Broussard homered to right center and Jordan Ardoin got home. After this monster play from Broussard we had a tied game at 4-4. LSUS managed to score once at the bottom of the 6th, but that was the only score until we reached the top of the 9th. LSUA knew they needed to score and Bryson Broussard once again got home and tied the game after Joshua Tinnerello singled to left field. Tinnerello then scored himself as Zach Mengarelli singled to right field. LSUA now have the lead but they did not stop there. Jordan Ardoin stepped up and doubled to center field which allowed Blaise Foote, Zach Mengarelli, and Keegan Garcia to score. That monster 3 score play gave LSUA a 9-5 lead and secured the victory. Â
