Generals Win Streak Continues

Generals Win Streak Continues

ALEXANDRIA, LA- After what seems like an eternity, the Generals were able to show out on their home turf against the Bulldogs of Jarvis Christian College, securing the sweep in their doubleheader matchup.

Game one: LSUA 8, JCC 0

Generals, Jillian Howell wasted no time helping put her team on the scoreboard as she blasted one over left field with Layton and Fontenot on base putting the Generals up 3-0 in the first inning. Still in the first inning, Amber Giddens was able to score due to an error from the Bulldog's leftfielder, then with McMahon's double to left field, Jones scored making it 5-0 lead in favor of the Generals.

Left-fielder, Katherine Atkins led the Generals at the plate as she went three-for-three in her at bats with 2 RBIs.

The Generals went on two scoring 1 run in the 2nd inning and two more in the 4th inning giving them the 8-0 leading, ultimately ending the game in just 5 short innings as Taylor Spencer pitched a shutout against the Bulldogs with 6 strikeouts and allowing only 3 hits.

Game two: LSUA 1, JCC 0

Taylor Spencer back on the mound for game two as she produced another shutout against the Bulldogs in seven innings of play. Spencer allowed only 6 hits and struck out 12 of the 27 batters faced.

Although the Generals bats weren't as hot for game two, Lauryn McMahon singled to left field and then advanced to third after a double to center by Haley Fontenot. With McMahon in scoring position, Bailey Layton produced a sac fly to center field that brought McMahon home ultimately giving the Generals their game winning run in the bottom of the third.

The Generals have now moved to a 4-3 conference record with these wins under their belts.

Next up for the Generals will be more double header action with the Gold Nuggets from Xavier right here back at home on the LSUA Softball field. First pitch is set to be thrown at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 24th.
