Generals Narrowly Fall to William Carey

LSUA put up a great fight in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, but it was not enough to get a win.

The Generals started strongly as Zach Mengarelli got the first score of the game in the top of the 1st. Carey responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the 1st, and they added 5 more in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 6-1 lead.
The Generals needed a special come back, and they made a huge effort to do so. The attempted come back started in the top of the 3rd as Jack Whitaker got home and made it 6-2. After some strong pitching from both teams, there was no more runs scored until the bottom of the 5th, as William Carey made in 7-2.

In the top of the 8th, the Generals put together one final charge. Keegan Garcia walked to 1st, Jordan Ardoin advanced to 2nd, Blaise Foote advanced to 3rd and Cameron Daigle got home to make it 7-3. William Carey then changed their pitcher, but the charge kept going. Keith McKigney walked to 1st, Keegan Garcia advanced to 2nd, Jordan Ardoin advanced to 3rd, and Blaise Foote scored to make it 7-4. Joshua Tinnerello then sacrifice flied out to right field, Keegan Garcia Advanced to 3rd and Jordan Ardoin scored to make it 7-5. Peyton Marcantel was next up to make a play and he hit a single to center field. That single allowed Keegan Garcia to get home and make it 7-6. William Carey finally got the Generals off the bat, but Carey could not add to their lead in the bottom of the 8th. The Generals had one more opportunity to complete the comeback, but Carey pitched brilliantly to get 3 out in quick time and clinical fashion. Final score LSUA 6-7 William Carey.

Next up for the Generals is a trip to New Orleans for a 3-game series against Xavier University of Louisiana. The first game is on March 31st at 5:00 PM.
