Alexandria, LA – The Generals Sweep the Saints
The Generals proved too strong for the Saints in a two-game series. Both games were closely fought battles, but the Generals showed their class in big moments of the game.
Game 1:
LSUA started like a house on fire in game one, as
Cameron Daigle quickly dismissed the Saints first three batters in the top of the 1
st. In the bottom of the 1
st, the Generals laid down a marker.
Jordan Ardoin stepped up and hit a single to get
Cameron Daigle and
Zach Mengarelli home, and give the Generals a 2-0 lead.
Austin Manuel then flied out to right field, but
Blaise Foote still managed to get home and make it 3-0.
Joshua Tinnerello then grounded out to shortstop but
Jordan Ardoin made it home to make it 4-0 after 1 inning.
The Saints started to fight back and they managed to get a run in the top of the 2
nd and the top of the 4
th which left the score at 4-2.
Julien Kliebert homered in the Bottom of the 5
th which was huge for the Generals. The Saints got one run back in the top of the 7
th but it wasn't enough. Final score LSUA 5-3 OLLU.
Game 2:
Game 2 was very eventful and high scoring compared to game 1. LSUA took the lead in the bottom of the first as
Zach Mengarelli got home. In the bottom of the 2
nd,
Cameron Daigle singled to center field to allow both
Julien Kliebert and
Austin Manuel to score. Immediately after,
Blaise Foote doubled to center field,
Cameron Daigle and
Zach Mengarelli scored.
Blaise Foote the scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-0 to the Generals. In the bottom of the 3
rd Julien Kliebert singled to left field to allow
Keegan Garcia to score and make it 7-0.
There were no more runs scored until the 6
th inning, where the saints scored twice. In the bottom of the 6
th, the Generals responded as
Julien Kliebert scored off a
Blaise Foote walk.
Jordan Ardoin then doubled to left field which allowed
Cameron Daigle and
Zach Mengarelli to score. OLLU brought in back to 10-4 in the top of the 8
th. LSUA once again responded in the bottom of the 8
th.
Blaise Foote was the first to score as he made it 11-4.
Bryson Broussard then sealed the victory as he hit a bomb of a home run to get
Jordan Ardoin home. OLLU managed to get 4 runs in the top of the 9
th, but it wasn't enough. Final Score LSUA 13-8 OLLU.
Next up for the Generals is a home series against the University of Southwest. Game 1 is Friday, April 14th at 2:00PM.
