Generals Take Game One Against LCU Before Lightning Called Game Two

ALEXANDRIA, LA- The Generals now 19-16 on the season and 12-5 in conference play, captured a win against the Red River Rivals, the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian University.  
 
Game one between the Generals and the Wildcats came down to the wire in the 7th inning as both teams had been battling all game.
 
The Wildcats were able to get on the board with two runs in the 2nd inning, but the Generals matched them with two runs of their own in the second inning as well. Generals go up in the 3rd with a solo homerun from Jillian Howell and despite the Wildcats putting up two more runs in the 5th, here comes Howell once again, blasting one out over left field with Layton on base, score now 5-4. The back and forth between the two teams continue, but fate was decided in the 7th. 
 
In the 7th inning of play, Wildcats Squires able to tie up the game 8-8 and going into the bottom of the inning, the Generals had one last shot to either seal the win or go into extra innings. Senior outfielder, Katherine Atkins, but the team on her back as she singled to right field getting onto base, then was able to advance to third on a fielder's choice. Now in scoring position, Atkins able to make it home on an error from the Wildcats, winning the game 9-8. 
 
Unfortunately, due to lightning the second game of the double header was called in the third inning. The two teams will make up the game at a later date.
 
The Generals will be back at home one Saturday, April 15th to take on the ranked Eagles of Texarkana. Game one of the double-header is set for 2:00 PM.
