San Antonio, TX- Day one of the 2023 Red River Athletic Conference Tournament, the No. 4 seeded Generals faced the Jaguars of University of Houston Victoria, falling 2-0. 
 
Each time the Generals and Jaguars have met up, the games have been a tight match coming down to the wire and today's game was no different. 
 
The Jaguars were able to get on the board first in the 1^st inning of play, but strong pitching from Taylor Spencer kept them at a single run until the 6^th inning when the Jaguars brought another run in making it a 2-0 lead over the Generals. 
 
The Generals were in scoring position during the bottom of the 6^th as Katherine Atkins, who went 3 for 3 at the plate, singled to center field. McMahon drew a walk which now put two Generals on base with two outs as Amber Giddens stepped up to the plate an took her base off an error by the Jaguars shortstop. Generals had bases loaded, but a chance to score ended with a pop up for the third out of the inning. 
 
Despite the loss, the Generals still have a chance to make a run in the tournament as they will now enter the elimination bracket taking on Xavier at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 5^th. This game will be played at St. Mary's. The Generals and the Gold Rush of Xavier have met up 4 previous times, and all four times the Generals were able to come out with victories. 
 
If the Generals come out victorious against the Gold Rush, they will go on to play the loser of the Texas A&M-San Antonio and Louisiana Christian University game at 3:00 PM that same afternoon.
