HATTIESBURG, MS- The Generals were on the road for a non-conference match up against the No. 9 Crusaders of William Carey, as they moved to 1-1-0 on the season, falling 1-2.
Match Recap: Torrenegra's Goal Not Enough to Lift Generals
The Crusaders started off early scoring the first goal of the game within the eighth minute of play. The Crusaders were able to hold the 1-0 lead until the 67
th minute of the second half where they were able to connect another shot on frame, now leading 2-0.
With the clock winding down, the Generals looked to make a comeback, taking 8 shots during play,
Daniel Torrenegra, was able to put one in within the final minutes of the second half making the match now 2-1 in favor of the Crusaders.
"It's never nice to lose a game. Even more so when you play well", said Coach Young, "I'm proud of the performance the boys put in today against a top program in the NAIA. However, if we don't take our chances when they come against these teams it always proves costly. We'll get back to work on Monday and prepare for a big weekend at home next week."
The Generals will look to get back into the win column as they take on the Eagles of Williams Baptist on September 2
nd at home. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM.
