ALEXANDRIA, La. – Alfie Lee scored twice, and Josh Angel Craven set the LSUA men's soccer single season assist record, as the Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team grabbed a 3-0 victory over the University of Houston-Victoria.
"From start to finish the boys were brilliant," LSUA Head Coach
Mackenzie Young said. "They executed from minute one to minute 90. It was good to get some guys out and rest them before Saturday, to get some guys some minutes. To go three up against a good side like UHV, credit to the boys."
The Generals (8-3-2, 6-0-2 RRAC) finished with 10 shots, seven of which were on goal. They held the Jaguars (6-3-2, 4-3-1 RRAC) to just three shots with one on goal.
Pablo Dominguez de Leon opened the scoring in the eighth minute.
Federico Gilardi won a header to
Adam Sherwood, who found Dominguez loose behind the defense. Dominguez buried his chance for his fifth goal of the season and a 1-0 lead.
In the 23
rd minute, Lee notched his first goal. Angel Craven found Lee off a corner for a 2-0 advantage. The assist etched Angel Craven into the record books with his ninth assist of the season.
"It's a great feeling," Angel Crave said of the milestone. "It's a big personal achievement, but the main goal is to keep us winning and to keep pushing toward the postseason."
Lee's second goal came in the 57
th minute. His initial shot rang off the post, before he sent the second effort over the goal line.
Valeriu Tarlev made one save on the evening.
The Generals are back at home on Saturday, October 19, for Senior Day as they host Huston-Tillotson University at 3:30 PM.
