Generals Win Fourth Straight With 2-1 Win Over OLLU

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A pair of first half goals secured a 2-1 victory for the Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team over Our Lady of the Lake. The Generals have won four straight games and are unbeaten in their last 10.

"Great win today," LSUA Head Coach Mackenzie Young said. "OLLU is a very tough place to come and the boys bounced back well after going 1-0 down so early in the game. Another huge game on Saturday to prepare for now."

LSUA (10-3-2, 8-0-2 RRAC) recorded 14 shots in the first half and finished with 20, including 10 on target. The Generals held OLLU (4-10-1, 3-6-1) to just eight shots. The Saints put six shots on target.

The Saints opened the scoring in the third minute. Thiago Fernandes converted a penalty for an early 1-0 lead.

LSUA brought the score back to level in the 20th minute. Adam Sherwood converted a penalty for the Generals' first goal of the contest. Less than two minutes later, Javier Moscardo gave the Generals a 2-1 lead.

A pair of chances from Josh Angel Craven in the first 15 minutes were turned away by Dominic Pena. Sherwood also had a chance denied by the Saints' keeper.

Valeriu Tarlev made five stops on the evening. Tarlev made his first stop of the half in the 20th minute, stopping a chance from Tim Talabi. He made a second save in the 24th, stymieing a shot from Alessandro Sierra. In the 32nd minute Tarlev kept out a shot from Nicolás Murgas.

Paul Adler, Moscardo, and Mackenzie Vincent each had a shot on goal stopped by Pena in the waning moments of the opening period.

The second half was a scoreless affair despite both sides creating chances.

Tarlev was called into action again in the 65th minute, keeping out another chance from Murgas. He made his final save in the 80th minute, denying Andres Rocha.
