Generals Score Five Unanswered to Secure Program's Best Conference Start in History, 5-1

LONGVIEW, Texas – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team scored five unanswered goals in a 5-1 victory over Texas College (3-5-0, 1-4-0 RRAC).

The victory gives the Generals (5-3-1, 3-0-1 RRAC) the best conference start in program history, claiming 10 of the first 12 RRAC points of the season.

"Got to take credit and give credit today," LSUA Head Coach Mackenzie Young said. "It was a good finish by the Texas College player. Credit to the mentality and composure of our guys to battle back from that and finish the game 5-1."

The Steers opened the scoring in the 14th minute, taking a 1-0 lead. The Generals responded in kind in the 27th minute. Alfie Lee notched first goal of the game. Less than 20 minutes later, LSUA took the lead on a goal from Adam Sherwood. Sherwood picked up an assist on Lee's goal, while George McKenzie added a helper on Sherwood's.

Five minutes into the second half Lee struck again, putting the Generals ahead 3-1. Mackenzie Vincent and Joshua Angel Craven notched assists.

McKenzie added a goal in the 67th minute. Chaz Badeaux closed the scoring in the 83rd. McKenzie and Badeaux both scored their first goal of the season. Mnqobi Mbili recorded an assist on McKenzie's tally, while Tony Rivas picked the helper on Badeaux's.

Valeriu Tarlev made five stops in the victory, including parrying back-to-back shots in the 14th minute to keep the score at 1-0.
