ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team takes on No. 1 seed Louisiana State University Shreveport in the semifinal of the Red River Athletic Conference Championship.
"We played them earlier in the season and I think we are a different team than we were when we faced them," LSUA Head Coach
Mark Hammond said. "I think we are better prepared to go out and beat them at this stage in the season. The regular season counts for something, but it's a new season. You need to win three games, go 3-0. We are definitely more than capable of doing so. We know that Shreveport are a good side, they have some good players, and are coming off a Championship win of the regular season. They'll be excited after winning on penalties in the opening round, I think it'll be a competitive game. Every time LSUA and LSUS face each other that rivalry is there. I think when we are at our best, we can take care of anyone."
The Generals recorded a 4-3 victory in the RRAC Quarterfinal.
Sacha Backus tallied the winning goal, while Sofia Jimeno Nogué scored a pair of goals in the win. LSUA has won six consecutive matches, five via clean sheet.
