Generals Roll Past Saints, 72-56, in Final RRAC Game of 2024

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball team took down Our Lady of the Lake University 72-56 in their final Red River Athletic Conference game of 2024.
 
"It's always good to get a conference road win," LSUA Head Coach Billy Perkins said. "I'm very proud of our team and they've earned a good Christmas break."
 
Dannah Martin-Hartwick led the Generals (11-4, 8-3 RRAC) with 15 points. She knocked down five shots, three of which came from beyond the arc. Martin-Hartwick also dished out five assists. Jewel Jones finished with 14 points and went 5-for-9 from the floor. She also went 4-for-7 from deep. Amani Gray tallied 10 points and tied with Benedetta Peracchi for the team lead in rebounds with eight each.
 
LSUA scored 28 points in the paint, 24 points off turnovers, 21 second chance points, and the bench chipped in 21 points. The Purple and Gold shot 48.3 percent from the field as a unit, including a 42.9 percent mark from long range.
 
After an even first quarter, 18-18, the Generals went on an 18-9 run in the second quarter. LSUA shot 7-for-15 in the period, while OLLU managed just a 1-for-11 mark from the field. The Saints' only basket came on their opening possession, a three, for a 21-18 lead. A 10-2 run from the Generals put them ahead 28-3 with threes from Jones and Martin-Hartwick, as well as layups from both Jones and Peracchi. LSUA went into halftime leading 36-27.
 
The Generals gained their first double digit lead of the game in the third quarter, a three from Jones on their third possession of the quarter pushed their advantage to 39-29. The lead remained in double digits for the remainder of the contest. Jones' three was the opening volley in a 17-0 run, seeing buckets from Jones, Alexis Dyer, Roundtree, Martin-Hartwick, Addison Walker, and Gray. Through 30 minutes of play, LSUA led 55-34 after out scoring OLLU 19-7 in the penultimate period.
 
Walker led the Generals with five points in the third. She went 2-for-3 from the field in the quarter. She added four more points in the fourth and finished the game 4-for-5 from the floor.
 
The Saints cut the Generals' lead below 20 in the fourth, but LSUA held on for the 72-56 victory.
 
LSUA travels to Louisiana Tech on December 30 for an exhibition in Ruston, Louisiana. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
