DALLAS, Texas – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team collected its third consecutive win with a 99-61 victory over Paul Quinn College.
Kashie Natt led the Generals (9-1, 6-1 RRAC) with 16 points.
Kaleb Pouncy finished with 14 points and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field.
EJ McQuillan notched 13 points and went 5-for-8 from the field.
Brayden Thompson and
Jason Perry II each tallied 10 points.
Isaiah Howard and
Xavier Smith each dished out five assists. LSUA shot 51.4 percent from the floor and knocked down 41.4 percent of their shots from deep.
The Generals recorded 42 points in the paint, 36 fast break points, 16 second chance points, and the bench chipped in 41 points. They also recorded 17 steals and dished out 27 assists.
LSUA opened the game with a 12-0 run over the first two-and-a-half minutes of play and never looked back. Thompson, Pouncy, and Natt all scored during the run. The Generals' lead never dipped into single digits.
A layup from
Nicholas Kaigler with 6:57 left in the opening stanza gave LSUA its first 20-point lead of the game, 34-13.
The Generals went into halftime with a 47-28 lead.
A quick basket from the Tigers to open the second saw brought LSUA's lead to 17, but a 6-0 run for the Generals brought it back to 20, 53-30.
Howard gave the Purple and Gold their first 30-point lead, knocking down a three with 6:14 to play.
The Generals closed the game on a 6-2 run with a three from Perry II and free throws from
Kheiri Haynes and
TJ James.
LSUA returns to The Fort next week for a pair of Red River Athletic Conference games. They host Huston-Tillotson University on Thursday, December 12, at 7:30 PM before welcoming North American University on Saturday, December 14, at 3:00 PM.
