ALEXANDRIA, LA- The Generals started their 2024 season off playing three games in the LCU Tournament going 3-0 against Arlington Baptist University, William Woods University, and Missouri Baptist University.
GAME ONE: LSUA 19, ABU 3
The Generals came out bats blazing as they collected 19 runs off 18 hits, scoring 10 in the second inning alone. Senior,
Amber Giddens, saw four at bats, in which she had 3 hits, one of which was a shot over left field, and 4 RBIs. On the mound it was Martinez who got the win pitching the first three innings as Boyd came to close the game out.
GAME TWO: LSUA 10, WWU 3
With bats still rolling, the Generals got to work early as they put up nine of ten runs within the first three innings. Catcher,
Madi Baker, helped get the Generals on the board with a SAC fly to center scoring
Haley Fontenot and putting Layton in scoring position. Baker saw four at bats collecting three RBIs and ended the sixth inning on a high note with a homerun. Both Baker and short stop,
Haley Fontenot, would homer this game.
On the mound, season pitcher,
Taylor Spencer, would collect the win pitching five innings only allowing five hits with 22 batters faced.
GAME THREE: LSUA 7, MBU 4
In the last game of the night, Missouri Baptist, made things interesting for the Generals as they tied things up 1-1 in the top of the 4
th. However,
Haley Primrose would answer back with a homerun to get the bats rolling again for the Generals as they Generals went on to extend their lead.
Not only did Primrose have the hot bat going 3-3 with a homerun and four RBIs, but she also had the hot arm as she was the winning pitcher of the night. Primrose pitched 6 innings allowing only nine hits against 27 batters, striking out seven.
The Generals will be back on the field today, February 3
rd, for more action in the LCU Tournament. First game of the day starts at 11:00 AM against Stephens College (Mo.), and the Generals will end the day at 1:00 PM against Dillard University.
