ALEXANDRIA, LA- The Generals are off to a 5-0 start after playing a double header against the Comets of Cottey College.
GAME ONE: LSUA 6, COTTEY 4
Getting to work early the Generals put up four runs in the first inning as Layton and Primrose took advantage of a walk as Ladner stepped up to the plate delivering a double, 2 RBI. Despite the bats going cold up until the 5
th inning, the Generals were able to put up two more runs in the 5
th and 6
th inning to secure the win.
Taylor Spencer moved to a 2-0 pitching record allowing only six hits and striking out eight batters.
GAME TWO: LSUA 21, COTTEY 14
In a three-and-a-half-hour game, the Generals overcame being down 9-0 after the first inning as they put up 21 runs between the 2
nd and 6
th inning, with 8 runs total in the sixth. Primrose, Theriot, and Howell all saw homeruns on the night helping the Generals cut the Comet's lead.
Getting the save on the night was,
Savannah Boyd as she pitched 5 innings, coming in for Primrose. Boyd faced 26 batters only allowing 7 hits and striking out 4.
