Sunday Sweep for Generals in Matchup with Mustangs

ALEXANDRIA, LA- The Generals took the filed for more conference play against the Mustangs of the University of the Southwest, getting the sweep and moving to 5-1 in RRAC play.

GAME ONE: LSUA 3, USW 0
In game one, it took a minute for the Generals to come alive as they were struggling to get on base up until the 5th inning. Ladner helped sparked the Generals after getting on base after being hit by a pitch, then smart work in the box by Moody getting a walk put two on base. Jillian Howell saw a hard hit to right field that was caught by Mustang defense, but able to move the runners, put the Generals in scoring position as Giddens stepped into the batters' box. Capitalizing off a Mustang's error, Giddens was able to get on base as Ladner scored putting the Generals on top. Then a double by Haley Fontenot brought in the last two runs of the game for the Generals.

Primrose pitched all 7 innings for the Generals completing the shutout. She allowed only 4 hits and had 10 strike outs.

GAME TWO: LSUA 2, USW 1
In what felt like déjà vu, the Generals were slow to attack until the bottom of the 4th when Fontenot's single to right field brought in Jenna Marler to put the Generals on the board, 1-0. In the top of the 6th inning, Southwest was able to tie the game at 1-1, but a quick response from the Generals in the bottom of the 6th, put them back in the lead.

Taylor Spencer got the win in the circle as she pitched all seven innings, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 6 of the 29 batters faced.

Next up, the Generals will travel to Mobile, AL to take on the No. 13 ranked Rams in double-header action on Tuesday, March 12th. First pitch is at 3:00 PM.
