Game Recap: Baseball |

Generals Split with Bulldogs

HAWKINS, TX- After several rain outs, the Generals finally took the field for a conference match up with the Bulldogs of Jarvis Christian. The Generals played in double header action on Sunday, splitting the series 1-1 and were supposed to play the third game today, but once again, rain kept them off the field.

GAME ONE: LSUA 2, JC 6
For game one of the series, both teams got off to a slow start as the Generals were the first to get on the scoreboard late in the 4th inning of play when Zach Mengarelli had a solo homerun. Shortly after, Blaise Foote was able to make it home with a hit by Keegan Garcia. However, for the Generals, those two runs were the only ones brought in by the Generals for game one. The Bulldogs went on to score all six of their runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take game one.

GAME TWO: LSUA 7, JC 0
The Generals turned things around in game two as Brandon Noel took the mound and pitched eight innings allowing only two hits from the Bulldogs. Noel also had 12 strikeouts. While Noel handled the pitching, his teammate Peyton Marcantel helped to get the scoring going in the first inning as he doubled bringing home Mengarelli and Martin. Going up 3-0 in the first inning, the Generals did not let up scoring one run a piece in the 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 9th inning of play while holding the Bulldogs scoreless.
Mengarelli went 3-4 at the plate while senior catcher, Peyton Marcantel, also had a day at the plate going 2-4 with 3 RBIs.

The Generals are now 11-14 overall and 9-4 in Red River Athletic Conference play.

Weather permitting, the Generals will take the field at home on Tuesday, March 26th for a non-conference match up with the SUNO Knights. First pitch is at 2:00 PM.
