Generals Sweep Wildcats in Dominate Fashion

ALEXANDRIA, LA- In another Red River Rivalry match up with the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian University, it was the Generals who walked off the field with a sweep of the series moving to 28-12 overall and 16-6 in Red River Athletic Conference play.

GAME ONE: LSUA 11, LCU 1
Game one ended in 5 innings of play as the Generals jumped out early capitalizing on Wildcat errors and strong at bats.

After going up 2-0 in the first inning, the Generals started seeing double in the 2nd inning. After extending the lead 4-0 off Wildcat errors, Primrose, Giddens, and Layton all double back-to-back putting the Generals up 9-0. With bats still rolling, they put up the final two runs in the 3rd inning of play while Taylor Spencer worked her magic on the mound.

Spencer pitched all five innings, allowing only one run, 5 hits, and striking out three.

GAME TWO: LSUA 6, LCU 2
Haley Fontenot took it to the Wildcats early as she knocked out her 8th homerun of the season in her first at bat during the 1st inning of play. Fontenot currently holds a .534 batting average on the season and has proven to be a crucial part of this Generals offense.

However, Fontenot's home run sparked the scoring as Kilee Moody delivered a single to left field scoring Primrose and shortly after Layton bangs out a two run double giving the Generals a 4-0 cushion after just the first inning of play.

The Wildcats were able to put pressure on the Generals as their bats got going, putting up 2 runs between the 3rd and 5th, but fell short as the Generals added two more in the 6th and Haley Primrose threw a gem of her own in the circle.

Primrose allowed only 4 hits on the night as she pitched all seven innings and struck out five.

Next up, the Generals will be back at home against Xavier University for Senior Night on Tuesday, April 23rd. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
