ALEXANDRIA, LA-The Generals moved to 24-12 overall and 12-6 in conference after splitting in double header action with the Jaguars of Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
GAME ONE: LSUA 15, TAMUSA 12
The Jaguars jumped out on the Generals with a 5-0 lead in the third inning after a few costly errors by the Generals. After a pep talk, Haley Ladner set the tone in the bottom of the third inning by sending one out the park with Fontenot on base making it 2-5. The Generals went on to tie things up 5-5 after the 4
th inning, but that didn't last long as the Jaguars brought in 3 more runs to start the 5
th.
However, not to sweat it, the Generals quickly got to work and a grand slam by
Haley Fontenot lifted the Generals to an 11-8 lead, but the homerun derby didn't stop there as
Haley Primrose sent another shot out of the park with a 2-run homer going up 13-8 at the end of 5. The Generals cleaned up defense and added 2 more runs before the game was over to take the win.
GAME TWO: LSUA 4, TAMUSA 9
The Jaguars were relentless in game two doing everything they could to score as they went up 4-0 after the top of the 1
st inning and the Generals were only able to answer with one run before ending the inning. As the Jaguars kept extending their lead, the Generals only answered with three more runs in the 5
th inning that included another homerun from
Haley Fontenot, but those added runs weren't enough as the Jaguars were able to come out with the win for game two.
Next up for the Generals, they will be taking on the Eagles of Texas A&M- Texarkana for more Red River Athletic Conference play. Game time is at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 12
th, at home in Alexandria.
