ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team returns to the pitch for a Saturday matinee against the University of Science and Arts (Okla.) on August 24 at 11:00 AM.
 
"Looking forward to another challenge on Saturday," LSUA Head Coach Mark Hammond said. "USAO are a very good program and will test us in different ways than the sides we have faced already. It will be a competitive game that will help us learn more about ourselves."
 
The Generals nabbed a 4-2 victory last week against Texas Wesleyan. Sofia Jimeno Nogué tallied a pair of goals on penalties and Ksenija Pavlovic added two goals as well.
 
SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ART (OKLA.)
USAO is set to officially open its season on Thursday (August 22) at LSU Shreveport. They played an exhibition match on August 9 against Oral Roberts and play to a 0-0 draw.
 
Last season, the Drovers finished 14-6-0 overall and 7-2-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. They scored 59 goals across 20 games, 34 of which came in SAC play. The Drovers averaged 19.3 shots per game. USAO finished the season with six clean sheets.
 
Dagbjort Gudmundsdottir is the leading returning scorer for the Drovers. She finished 2023 with five goals and seven assists for 17 points. Gudmundsdottir made 16 starts and appeared in 19 games for USAO.
 
Caitlin Bishop and Ashlyn Lonberg split time in goal for the Drovers last season, making 10 starts each. Bishop posted a 2.25 goals against average in 881 minutes, while Lonberg finished at 1.15 in 9:38 minutes. Bishop recorded 28 saves, allowed 22 goals, and posted a record of 5-5-0. Lonberg finished with 31 saves, 12 goals allowed, and a record of 9-1-0.

Admission to women's soccer games for spectators is free. The Generals Soccer Field is located at the back of LSUA's campus between Acorn Drive, Middleton Drive, and Tom Bowman Drive. Seating is located on the south side of the field.
