ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team opens Red River Athletic Conference play against rival Louisiana Christian University.
"The best time of year is here," LSUA Head Coach
Mark Hammond said. "We've been looking forward to the opening weekend of the conference for months now. We have a tough fixture on Saturday against our local rivals. The squad is focused and we're looking forward to the game."
The Generals (1-3-0) are coming off a scrimmage against Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
SCOUTING LOUISIANA CHRISTIAN
The Wildcats (1-3-1) recorded their first win of the season on Wednesday, September 18, blanking Wiley 3-0. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak.
Prior to Wednesday, Valeria Barriga Casallas had the Wildcats' only goal on the season. She scored her second marker of the year in the waning seconds of the first half against Wiley. Maria Alonso and Jazmine Jaminson also tallied goals in the win. Barriga Casallas leads LCU with four points. The Wildcats have been outscored 10-4 through five games and out shot 69-49.
In goal, Jaycee Woods (1-3-1) has made all five starts. She has allowed 10 goals, on 54 shots, while making 22 saves. The keeper has posted a pair of clean sheets.
Since 2015, the Generals and Wildcats have met five times. LSUA is 2-2-1 against LCU. The season series was split 1-1-0 last season with the Wildcats capturing a win in September in Pineville, before LSUA returned the favor in November in the opening round of the RRAC Tournament. In Alexandria, the Generals are 1-0-1 against LCU.
Kick-off is slated for 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 21, at the Generals Soccer Field.

Admission to women's soccer games for spectators is free. The Generals Soccer Field is located on the back of LSUA's campus between Acorn Drive, Middleton Drive, and Tom Bowman Drive. Seating is located on the south side of the field. Game programs are available at the pitch.
In attendance for Saturday's match against will be the LA Krewe Rush Alexandria, a local soccer travel club.
