Dominguez de Leon Notches Equalizer as Generals Draw 1-1 to LCU

ALEXANDRIA, La. – Pablo Dominguez de León leveled the score in the 37th minute as the Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team drew 1-1 against (RV) Louisiana Christian (3-1-2, 0-0-1).

"I think the game slipped away from us a bit," LSUA Head Coach Mackenzie Young said. "Pablo scored a great goal, his first for the team, and big Tony Rivas had a pair of chances off his head. We are still undefeated right now, so we'll take that and we'll move on to next week."

Dominguez de Leon one-timed a past the Wildcats' keeper as Alfie Lee and George McKenzie combined on the assists to bring the Generals (2-3-1, 0-0-1) back to even. The game's first goal came in the 22nd minute. Lucas Lima slipped a shot off the inside of the post to give the Wildcats an early 1-0 lead.

LSUA finished with eight shots, putting three on goal. LCU finished with four shots, one of which was on goal. Valeriu Tarlev finished with one save on the evening.

A chance from Adam Sherwood in the 43rd minute was stymied by the Wildcat keeper to keep the score even at the half time whistle.

In the second stanza, the Generals had early shots from Dominguez de Leon and Maximo Romagnoli.

Tony Rivas came on in the 78th minute at the top of the Generals' formation. Usually a center back, Rivas generated a pair of headers from close range. The first went just over the crossbar and the second rang off the post.

"We saw him score some goals in practice, so we thought we might try it out," Young said on putting Rivas up top. "I just appreciate Tony's willingness to go play that position."

A late chance from Lee was turned aside by Rodrigo Silva.

The Generals are back in action on Thursday, September 21, at 3:30 PM as they host Paul Quinn University in an RRAC match.
