Fourth Annual Shrimp Jam a Success

ALEXANDRIA, La. – Over 500 people gathered at the Randolph Riverfront Center in Alexandria for the fourth annual Shrimp Jam, hosted by the Generals Athletic Association and LSUA Foundation.

"This was an incredible night of our CenLA Community coming together to support LSUA and our student-athletes," LSUA Director of Athletics Tyler Unsicker said.  "What a great way to start this upcoming academic year."

LSU Head Men's Basketball Coach Matt McMahon was the keynote speaker. McMahon enters his third season as the Tigers' bench boss. McMahon spoke to the five core values that define him and his program at LSU: Hard work, unselfishness, toughness, accountability, and joy.

"It's very inspiring to see the generosity and support here tonight," McMahon said during his address.

The event raised money to help support student-athletes at Louisiana State University of Alexandria and the work of the LSUA Foundation. A live auction included items such as a weekend getaway to New Orleans, artwork from Lynn Sanders and Leah Morace, a five-course culinary experience, Diamonds and Daises Décor, a Weiss and Goldring LSUA ensemble, and a private Star Wars film and dinner experience for eight at the Imperial Home Theatre. A silent auction included a host of items, including signed LSU memorabilia.

"Your generosity supports LSUA student-athletes and people like me from Rayville," NAIA All-American and RRAC Player of the Year Kashie Natt noted during his speech. "When I walk across the stage, I'll be the first one in my family to graduate."

A shrimp dinner was provided by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board.
