PREVIEW | Women's Soccer Hosts Paul Quinn, Southwest (N.M.) in RRAC Play

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team continues Red River Athletic Conference play at home against Paul Quinn College and the University of the Southwest (N.M.).
 
"It's a very big week for us," LSUA Head Coach Mark Hammond said.  "Two home games gives us a great platform to kick-start our season. The squad knows we have two tough opponents coming to town but we know that we are capable of getting two positive results."
 
The Generals (1-3-1, 0-0-1 RRAC) are coming off of a 0-0 draw against Louisiana Christian. Victoria Weber made four saves to keep the contest scoreless.
 
SCOUTING PAUL QUINN
The Tigers (0-2-1, 0-1-1 RRAC) suffered a 14-0 defeat at the hands of Xavier (La.) in their last outing, after drawing 3-3 against North American.
 
Paul Quinn has scored three goals on the season, two coming from Asrael Basden. She leads the team with four points (2G+0A=4TP). Simara Barton has also scored. Ashley Rosete has the Tigers' only assist. Fernanda Rosas has made both starts in goal for the Tigers.
 
The Generals are 8-0-0 against Tigers since 2016. Last season, LSUA captured a 4-0 victory over Paul Quinn in September.
 
Kick-off is slated for 1:00 PM at the Generals Soccer Field.

SCOUTING SOUTHWEST (N.M.)
The Mustangs (3-1-1, 1-1-0 RRAC) won their last outing against North American University, 4-1. They opened RRAC play with a 7-0 loss to Xavier (La.).
 
Southwest (N.M.) has scored 15 goals and is averaging 3.00 goals per game, while allowing 2.58 goals per game. Maya Sanchez leads the Mustangs' offense with six goals. Arlette Montanez and Jadyn Duran are tied for second in goals with three each. Sanchez is the overall points leader with 14 (6G+2A=14TP).
 
Elena Moya has started all five games in goal for Southwest (N.M.). In 371:21, Moya has made 15 saves and allowed 12 goals. Kristina Simpson has made two appearances in relief, logging 46:55, and making one save.
 
The Generals are 6-1-0 since 2018 against Southwest (N.M.). LSUA claimed a 2-0 victory in Hobbs last September.

Admission to women's soccer games for spectators is free. The Generals Soccer Field is located on the back of LSUA's campus between Acorn Drive, Middleton Drive, and Tom Bowman Drive. Seating is located on the south side of the field. Game programs are available at the pitch.
