PREVIEW | No. 5 Men's Basketball Opens 2025 At Home Against LSU Shreveport

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The No. 5 Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team opens 2025 at home against LSU Shreveport in a Red River Athletic Conference contest.
 
"It's a big game for us on Saturday to open up this new year," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "We have had some great practices leading up to this game. Every day our guys got better. LSU Shreveport is a very talented team. They have a lot of guys who can score the basketball. We have to be dialed in for the entirety of the game defensively!"
 
The Generals (13-1, 10-1 RRAC) won their last two games against Texas A&M-San Antonio, 74-71, and No. 20 Our Lady of the Lake, 85-71.
 
SCOUTING LSU SHREVEPORT
The Pilots enter 2025 with a record of 9-6. In RRAC play, LSU Shreveport is 6-5. They are 3-4 on the road. The Pilots split their final two games of 2024, dropping a 90-86 game to Our Lady of the Lake before capturing an 83-65 victory over Texas A&M-San Antonio.
 
LSU Shreveport averages 84.9 points per game and the Pilots are shooting 47.4 percent from the floor. They average 33.1 rebounds and 15.1 assists. The Pilots have six players, who have appeared in at least 10 games, averaging 10 or more points per game. Taj Anderson leads the Pilots' offense with 18.9 points per game. He is followed by Davion Coleman (13.9), Tyler Washington (12.2), Trey Boston (11.2), Melvion Flanagan (11.6), and Meikkel Murray (10.1).  Boston leads the Pilots' in shooting, knocking down 48.7 percent of his shots with Coleman right behind him at 48.4. Anderson is the Pilots' most prolific shooter from deep, knocking down 46 of his 115 attempts beyond the arc.
 
Murray leads LSU Shreveport in rebounding, hauling in 5.7 boards per game. He is followed by Washington at 5.1. The Pilots allow 77.7 points per game and opponents are shooting 44.8 percent from the field.
 
The Generals are 12-10 all-time against the Pilots. They have won the last two games. LSUA is 8-2 when playing at The Fort. The Generals average 85.59 points per game against LSUS.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 4, at The Fort.
