PREVIEW | No. 4 Men's Basketball Welcomes Paul Quinn, Southwest (N.M.)

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The No. 4 Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team hosts Paul Quinn College and the University of the Southwest (N.M.) in a pair of Red River Athletic Conference games.
 
"Paul Quinn has gotten better since the last time we played," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "Coach Stafford does a good job with those guys. They have a First Team All-Conference player who can score it on all three levels along with some other good pieces! We have to be ready to defend their actions for 40 minutes!"
 
The Generals (18-1, 15-1 RRAC) are coming off a 71-63 win over Louisiana Christian University. LSUA swept the Red River Rivalry in the 2024-25 season. Kashie Natt earned Red River Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Natt shot 50-percent from the floor (7-for-14) and scored 24 against Louisiana Christian University. He went 9-for-13 at the free throw line and added 16 rebounds for his 11th double-double of the season.
 
SCOUTING PAUL QUINN
Paul Quinn enters the week with a record of 4-16. They are 4-13 in RRAC play.
 
The Tigers average 64.5 points per game and are shooting 42.4 percent from the floor. Norris Williams leads Paul Quinn's offense, averaging 18.9 points per game. Williams is shooting 39.8 percent from the floor.
 
Josh Harrison leads Paul Quinn in rebounding, hauling in 6.2 rebounds per game. Behind him is Julian Spotser at 5.5 boards per game.
 
The Generals are 17-2 all-time against Paul Quinn. They have won the last four meetings. LSUA is 7-1 when playing at The Fort.

The Mustangs enter the week with a 13-7 record overall and a 10-7 mark in RRAC play.

Behind him are Rahkiem Petterson (12.2), James Evans (11.9), Anthony Scott (10.8), and Jalen McAfee Marion (10.3). Koontz is shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and has not attempted a shot from three-point range. Evans is shooting 55.6 percent from the floor, while Petterson is knocking down shots at a 54.9 percent rate.

Koontz and Petterson lead the rebounding efforts, hauling in 5.9 and 5.8 rebounds per game, respectively. Koontz averages nearly three offensive boards per game.
 
The Generals are 2-1 against the Mustangs all-time. They have won the last four meetings. LSUA is undefeated when playing at The Fort, 13-0.
