(RV) Generals Notch Clean Sheet Win Over LCU on Senior Day, 2-0

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The (RV) Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team took down Louisiana Christian in their Red River Rivalry match up, 2-0, on Senior Day.

It's the Generals (13-2-1, 8-1-1 RRAC) first win over LCU (4-8-1, 2-6-1 RRAC) at home since 2021 after drawing the last two matches in Alexandria.

"I think the most important thing today was getting three points after Thursday's result," LSUA Head Coach Mackenzie Young said. "Ultimately, we got the job done and got the clean sheet. We got to send these senior boys off in the right way."

LSUA recorded double-digit shots in both halves, finishing with 21. Nine of their shots were on goal. The Generals held the Wildcats to just six shots, three of which were on goal.

Juan Buitrago found the back of the net in the 12th minute on the game's first shot.

Just under a minute later, the Generals were awarded a penalty and Pablo Dominguez de Leon converted for a 2-0 lead.

LSUA bombarded the Wildcats' back line with chances. Tomas Cabrera tested LCU keeper Ricardo Gross in the 20th minute but was denied. Gross finished with seven saves.

Ivan Capurro made his first save in the 30th minute, keeping a shot from Thiago Lopes out. He was called on again thirty seconds later to deny a chance from Juan Murillo. Capurro finished with three saves to earn his seventh clean sheet of the year.

Both Ben McCarron and Gabriel Marin had shots stymied by Gross towards the end of the first half.

In the 56th minute, Diego Cadabon laced a shot which was turned away by Gross. The Generals' offensive efforts continued as Dominguez had a pair of shots stopped by the keeper.

In the 86th minute, Capurro turned aside a shot from Juan Sierra, preserving the clean sheet.

LSUA is on the road next Saturday for their final regular season match of the season. They travel to Xavier (La.). Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
