(RV) Generals Take Down No. 22 Xavier With Second Half Goals From Dominguez, 2-1

METAIRIE, LA – A pair of second half goals from Pablo Dominguez de Leon lifted the (RV) Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team over No. 22 Xavier University (La.), 2-1, in their regular season finale.

Dominguez's goals came under two minutes apart and were his seventh and eighth goals of the season.

"Great result against a very good team," LSUA Head Coach Mackenzie Young said. "It took everyone today and I am proud of the boys for the performance they put in. Huge way to end the regular season and now look forward to playoffs."

Trailing 1-0 after Guillherme Domingues gave the Gold Rush (10-4-2, 7-3-1 RRAC) a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute, Dominguez notched the equalizer in the 68th off an assist from Paul Adler. Dominguez wasted no time giving the Generals (14-2-1, 9-1-1 RRAC) the lead, burying another chance under two minutes later.

Ivan Capurro made a pair of saves in the victory. His first save came towards the end of the first half, denying a chance from Iman Ouedragogo. The second came in the 72nd minute on a shot from Pedro Izaias, preserving the 2-1 lead.

The Generals put 10 of their 16 shots against Xavier on target. LSUA has recorded the most regular season wins in a season since 2018, when they also recorded 14 wins. It is the second time this season the Generals have beaten a ranked opponent, taking down No. 3 William Carey in their season opener.

LSUA clinched the second seed heading into the RRAC tournament next week and receive a bye in the opening round.
