PREVIEW | No. 13 Men's Basketball Opens Season at Nelson For Pair of Games

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The No. 13 Louisiana State University of Alexandira men's basketball team travels to Nelson University (Texas) for a pair of games this week

THE GENERALS
No. 13 LSUA finished the 2024-25 season with a 31-3 record, including a 22-2 mark in RRAC play. They were undefeated at home, finishing 15-0 in The Fort. The Generals made a Round of Eight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
 
LSUA averaged 83.6 points per game last season. EJ McQuillan returns after averaging 13.0 points per game. Jordan Decuir also returns for the Purple and Gold. He averaged 9.5 points per game last season. Kaleb Pouncy, Jayce Tolivar, TJ James, and Kheiri Haynes also return for Coach Jackson's squad.

There are plenty of new faces for the Generals this season including Norman Beckord, PD McCraney, Courtney McCarthy, Javon Smith, Talib Ferrette, Terrence Marco, Quentin Henry, and Johnny DeWalt.
 
SCOUTING TEXAS WESLEYAN
The Rams finished the 2024-25 season with a record of 19-11, including a 14-9 mark in Sooner contests.
 
They averaged 73.6 points per game and held opponents to 67.9. The Rams shot 45.2 percent from the floor and 30.9 percent from long range. The averaged a plus-7.6 rebounding margin over their opponents at 38.2 to 30.6.

SCOUTING NELSON UNIVERSITY
The Lions are 1-0 on the season, winning their season opener over Arlington Baptist University 108-91.
 
JJ Boling recorded a team-high 22 points, while Noah Jonker was right behind at 13. Brionne Williams (13), Jesse Iweze (12), and Micah Clark (10) also finished with double-digit points.
 
Boling (8) and Williams (7) led the Lions in rebounding.
 
The Generals captured a 77-65 win over Nelson this past March in the NAIA Opening Round. They are 4-1 all-time against the Lions.
