(RV) Generals Fall to Eagles, 73-64

FORT WORTH, TX – The (RV) Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball team fell to Oklahoma Wesleyan University, 73-64, in their season opener.
 
Sydney Person scored 20 points in her LSUA (0-1) debut. Person finished 9-for-14 from the field and 2-for-3 from long range. She also hauled in five rebounds. Princis Goff also finished in double digits in her Generals' debut with 12.
 
The Generals shot 44.4 percent from the floor and 30.8 percent from beyond the arc.

"I thought the team did a better job on defense in the second half," LSUA Head Coach Billy Perkins said. "We just need to rebound and get ready for tomorrow."
 
The Eagles (1-1) finished with three players with over 10 points. Gracie Alexander (24), Ashlyn Baker (13), and Tayiyah Harris (10) all finished in double digits. OKWU shot 37.5 percent from the floor but amassed 11 made threes.
 
Justice Young and Goff recorded the first two baskets of the game for a 4-0 LSUA lead. After a three from Alexander, Kelly Norris drove the lane for two. Another pair of threes from Alexander gave the Eagles a 9-6 lead. OKWU did not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game.
 
LSUA held the Eagles to a single-digit advantage at the end of the first quarter, but the Eagles extended the gap to 16 at the half time buzzer.
 
An 11-2 run in favor the Generals to open the third quarter cut the Eagles' lead to 48-41 with 3:57 to play in the third.
 
After a three from Alexander and a free throw from Sophia Regalado, the Generals responded with baskets from Reese Stephens, McKayla Price, and Goff to narrow the deficit to five. A pair of free throws from the Eagles sent the contest into the final period with a 54-47 score line in favor of OKWU.
 
In the final stanza, the Eagles expanded their lead to double digits. The Generals battled back, cutting it down to just six but the Eagles held on for the 73-64 win.
 
The Generals are back in action tomorrow to take on host Texas Wesleyan University at 2:00 PM in Fort Worth, Texas.
