Adler Strikes Twice in (RV) Generals Win Over Jaguars, 2-0

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The (RV) Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team remains undefeated in Red River Athletic Conference play after picking up a 2-0 win over Texas A&M-San Antonio.

"Unbelieveable win against a fantastic team," LSUA Head Coach Mackenzie Young said. "TAMUSA are a top side and coached very well. Just so proud of this team and we are seeing the rewards of what hard work day in and out looks like. Every player to a man ws excellent, back to work on Monday for another big week."

The Generals (9-1-0, 4-0-0 RRAC) recorded 14 shots, 11 of which came in the second half. They held the Jaguars (5-2-2, 2-2-0 RRAC) to just 10 shots.

A scoreless first half yielded four shots for the Jaguars and three for the Generals. Both keepers were called into action with Ivan Capurro making one save and Dominic Pena recording a pair.

Capurro earned his ninth win of the season and third clean sheet. He totaled two saves.

It didn't take long for the Generals to strike in the second half. Just three minutes in Maximo Romagnoli played a free kick to Paul Adler in front of the goal. Adler slipped his shot past the keeper for a 1-0 lead.

Just three minutes later, Diego Cadabon nearly doubled LSUA's advantage. He rang a shot off the crossbar. Mario Fairweather then hit the post in the 61st minute.

A save from Capurro off a header in the 67th minute kept the Generals ahead. It was the last shot of the half for the Jaguars until a chance from Ronald Aguilar was blocked in the final minute.

Adler added a brace in the 76th minute, collecting a pass from Pablo Dominguez de Leon and burying his shot.

LSUA takes on Jarvis Christian and Texas A&M-Texarkana next week at home. They square-off with Jarvis Christian on Thursday, October 9, at 3:30 PM.
