MOBILE, AL – The (RV) Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball team recorded a 94-78 victory over the University of Mobile in a non-conference meeting.
The Generals (1-3) had six players finish with double-digit points.
Princis Goff led the Purple and Gold with 16.
Kelly Norris recorded 15, while
Addison Walker compiled 12.
Reese Stephens,
Justice Young, and
McKayla Price each scored 11. Norris recorded a double-double, hauling in 10 rebounds.
"Great win," LSUA Head Coach Billy Perkins said. "We played through some adversity. I'm very proud of the whole team."
LSUA shot 50.8 percent from the floor and knocked down four shots from beyond the arc. They also converted 24 of 34 free throws. The Generals scored 48 points in the paint.
The Rams (1-3) were led by Jada Johnson with 19 points. Taylor Lee (12), Emilee Duet (11), and Ally Blankinchip (11) also finished in double digits. Mobile shot 40.5 percent from the floor and just 24 percent from long range.
After the first quarter, LSUA trailed 25-19. The Generals responded by out scoring Mobile, 28-17 in the second period to go into halftime leading 47-42. Price recorded nine points, while Norris and Stephens both tallied five.
LSUA held Mobile to under 20 points again in the third quarter, putting up a 27-15 gap on the Rams. Walker led the Generals in the third with seven points, while Norris recorded six. The quarter included a 21-4 run in favor of LSUA over seven-and-a-half minutes long. The Generals went 9-for-15 from the field during the run and held Mobile to a 2-for-15 mark. LSUA recorded its largest lead of the night in the third, reaching a 22-point margin with just under two minutes left.
The Rams managed to claim a slim 21-20 edge in the final stanza, but LSUA held for the 94-78 win.
The Generals have their home opener on Friday, November 14, as they host Faulkner University at noon for Kids Day.
