Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

(RV) Pilots Slip Past (RV) Generals, 98-90

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The (RV) Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team fell to (RV) Louisiana State University Shreveport, 98-90, in a Red River Athletic Conference game.
 
EJ McQuillan and Norman Beckford both finished with 21 points. Courtney McCarhty recorded 14 points. TJ James led the Generals (5-4, 2-1 RRAC) with 12 rebounds. Beckford finished 8-for-11 from the field, including a 3-for-4 mark from long range.


LSUA recorded 26 points in the paint, 12 second chance points, and the bench scored 48.
 
"They whooped us in every aspect of the game," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "We weren't tough. We need to figure out how to get tough."
 
Khi Wallace led the Pilots (6-3, 4-0 RRAC) with 28 points. He went 12-for-18 from the field. Hayden Brittingham (23) and Emareyon McDonald (22) also finished in double digits. Wallace and Brittingham both recorded double-doubles.
 
LSUS shot 52.3-percent from the field and converted 23 of their 41 free throw attempts. LSUA went 11-for-18 at the charity stripe.
 
The lead swung back and forth through the majority of the game, seeing 15 lead changes and 11 tied scores. After the first 20 minutes of play, LSUA led 51-46. Beckford scored 14 of his 21 points in the first half.
 
LSUA extended their lead to eight in the first two minutes of the second half, 56-48. A 12-4 run in favor of the Pilots tied the game 60-60 with 15:11 left in regulation.
 
Neither team managed to take control until the final four minutes of the second half. A three-point play from McQuillan with 3:36 on the clock put LSUA ahead 84-80.
 
McDonald responded with a three, cutting the deficit to one with just 2:38 left. After a free throw from James made it 85-83 in favor of LSUA, McDonald knocked down another three for the Pilots and put them ahead 86-85.
 
The trey opened a 9-0 run for LSU Shreveport and dwindled the clock down to just 33 seconds. A layup from Beckford ended the unanswered streak but LSUA was unable to mount a comeback.
 
A layup and four free throws from McDonald salted away the victory for LSUS.
 
The Generals are back at on home on Saturday, December 13, as they face Texas A&M-Texarkana at 3:00 PM.
