No. 21 Generals Slug Their Way to 16-2 Win Over McPherson

LECOMPTE, La. – The No. 21 Louisiana State University of Alexandria closed the LCU Tournament with a 15-2 victory over McPherson College.

"Super excited, we came out and had a plan of attack today," LSUA Head Coach Trent Partridge said. "We have scored something like 20 runs or so in the first three innings and hadn't scored much after that, so we were trying to score something in multiple innings and today I think we accomplished that."

Julia Kwakernaak and Kamille Lightfoot blasted home runs. Lightfoot's was the first of her career. Haley Fontenot went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs batted in, she also scored two runs. Madi Baker was a perfect 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two runs scored. Haley Primrose drove in three runs on two hits, she also scored twice. The Generals (3-0) had 10 different players record an RBI and 13 players record hits.

Primrose (2-0) earned her second win of the season in the circle. She tossed three innings and allowed one run on just two hits. She struck out six hitters. Jaycie O'Conner and Fontenot each pitched an inning in relief.

The Generals' offense exploded for 10 runs in the third inning, after scoring four runs in the first two innings.

Primrose started the onslaught in the third with an RBI single. Jillian Howell followed her with an RBI single of her own. Kilee Moody then drove in Prim with a shot up the middle. Later in the inning, Fontenot drove in Moody and Lightfoot with a single, before Baker drove in Dunbar and Fontenot. Kwakernaak's two-run blast made it 13-0. Primrose scored a second time in the inning on a wild pitch as the Generals' 10th run of the inning.

The Bulldogs scored their first run in the third on an RBI single to left.

In the fourth inning, Hanna Jackson drove in Haven Brooks with a single to center. Jenna Marler followed her by lacing an RBI single to left.

McPherson tacked a second run on in the fifth, but Fontenot picked up a looking strikeout to end the game.

LSUA is back in action next week as they host the Generals Showdown at Champions Sportsplex in Lecompte, Louisiana.
