No. 1 Generals Tame Jaguars on Senior Day, 97-67

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The No. 1 Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball rolled to a 97-67 Senior Day victory over Texas A&M-San Antonio.

"Good win," LSAU Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "Wasn't perfect, but at this time of year, you take them how you get them. We were dominant, got some stuff we need to clean up, but shout out to the staff and the players."

The Generals (25-1, 22-1 RRAC) have won 19 straight games. They also finished their regular season home slate with a perfect 13-0 record. It is the first time the Generals have been undefeated in the regular season at The Fort since the 2016-17 season.

Kashie Natt recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. He added four steals and a block to the ledger as well. Jakemin Abney recorded 13 points, while both Jason Perry II and Jordan Decuir finished with 11. Bryce Journee rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points. The Generals scored 40 points in the paint, 25 points off turnovers, 17 second chance points, and the bench recorded 52 points.

The Purple and Gold stormed out to a 20-6 lead in just over six minutes of play and never looked back. They reached a 25-point lead with 8:36 left in the first on a pair of free throws from McQuillan, 34-11.

The Jaguars (5-21, 4-18 RRAC) narrowed their deficit to 15, but the Generals stormed back, pushing their lead to 24 with under 75 seconds left in the opening period. They took a 49-26 lead into halftime.

LSUA recorded 11 offensive rebounds and eight steals in the first half. They held the Jaguars to a shooting percentage of just 33.3% and a mark of 3-for-16 from long range.

"We were doing some things differently on defense," Jackson added. "Good job to our guys being able to handle it."

A jumper from Abney midway through the second half pushed the lead to 30, 75-45, for the first time.

Despite efforts from the Jaguars to chip into the Generals' lead, LSUA responded in kind, keeping the Jaguars at arm's length for the entirety of the contest.

LSUA is back in action on Thursday, February 20, as they travel to LSU Shreveport for their regular season finale. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
