ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team split a doubleheader with the University of the Southwest (N.M.). The Generals (14-14, 8-4 RRAC) lost game one, 21-6, before bouncing back in game two, 6-4.
Blaise Foote's game two homerun was the 25
th of his career. Foote is now even with Logan Constantine in career long balls atop the LSUA record book. Constantine played at LSUA from 2016-2019.
GAME ONE | USW 22, LSUA 6
The Generals surrendered runs in every inning during the twin bill opener.
Southwest's (13-15, 4-9) biggest inning came as a 10-run sixth inning.
LSUA trailed 3-0 before
Jamari Valery drove in a run on fielder's choice in the second. After the Mustangs added a run in the third, a passed ball brought
Luke Benoit in from third in the bottom half. A sacrifice fly from
Landon Langley and an RBI ground out from
Keegan Garcia tied the game at 4-4.
An RBI single from
Dezmon Dugas in the fourth and a solo homerun from
Julien Kliebert in the fifth was the remainder of the Generals' scoring.
Brenyn Ebarb (1-4) was charged with the loss. He allowed six runs, four earned, on seven hits over three innings. Dugas and Benoit both recorded a pair of hits.
GAME TWO | LSUA 6, USW 4
The Generals struck first, scoring a pair of runs in the second inning.
Joshua Tinnerello drew a bases loaded walk and Kliebert drove in a run on a ground out for a 2-0 lead.
In the third, the Mustangs responded with a pair of runs of their own to tie the game, but Foote's solo blast put LSUA ahead once more.
A sacrifice fly from Boudreaux in the seventh gave the Generals their go-ahead run after the Mustangs scored a run in both the sixth and seventh innings.
Jaxon Bernard drove in an insurance run in the eighth.
Carter Fabre (4-2) got the win in relief. He tossed 3.1 innings and allowed just one unearned run on two hits. He struck out a pair.
William Vice took the mound in the start and hurled 5.2 innings or three-run ball. He allowed six hits and struck out seven. Foote, Dugas, and Boudreaux each tallied a pair of hits.
