Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Falls Twice to Wiley

MARSHALL, Texas – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team dropped both games of its doubleheader against Wiley University (TX) (13-8), 5-4 and 7-6.

"Today was a tough day," LSUA Head Coach Kody Gautreaux said. "Credit to Wiley for competing. We will continue to work hard to get better going into next weekend."

GAME ONE | WILEY 5, LSUA 4

Brenyn Ebarb took the ball for the Generals (12-8) in game one and tossed six innings. He allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits. Ebarb struck out a trio of hitters. James Gay (0-1) was charged with the loss. He went three innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits.

LSUA scored in four separate innings. A first inning RBI double from Landon Langley gave the Generals a 1-0 lead. In the second, Julien Kliebert came around to score on a wild pitch. A fielder's choice in the third dove in another run before Peyton Marcantel launched a solo homerun in the fifth - his second in as many games.

An RBI double in the fifth from the Wildcats made it 4-1 before a three-run seventh tied the game at 4-4.

Wiley walked off with a solo homerun in the bottom of the 10th, 5-4.

GAME TWO | WILEY 7, LSUA 6

A late rally from the Wildcats rebuffed the Generals in the back half of the doubleheader.

William Vice got the start for LSUA. He allowed three runs on four hits over four innings of work. He struck out three on 72 pitches. Carter Fabre (3-2) was charged with the loss. He allowed five earned runs over 2.2 innings.

Blaise Foote drove in a pair in the first three innings. A sacrifice fly in the first gave LSUA a 1-0 lead before Foote hit a solo shot in the third to double the Generals' lead. He hit a second homerun in the seventh, a three-run blast, to put LSUA ahead 6-4.

Alongside Foote's two homeruns, Zach Mengarelli went deep for a solo bomb in the sixth.

Following Foote's solo blast, the Wildcats responded with a trio of runs in the third for a 3-2 lead. They tacked on a fourth run two innings later.

The Wildcats scored three runs in the seventh to overcome a 6-4 deficit for the victory.
