SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team fell to Our Lady of the Lake University, 9-7, in their opening game of a three-game series.
The Generals (12-10, 6-1 RRAC) recorded seven hits in the loss.
Luke Benoit and
Dezmon Dugas both recorded a pair of hits.
Josh Pierce got the call on the mound and hurled five innings. He allowed five runs, three earned, on seven hits. Pierce recorded five strikeouts.
Shae Thibodeaux (1-1) was charged with the loss. He allowed just two hits and four unearned runs.
After three innings of scoreless baseball,
Keegan Garcia got the Generals on the board. He drove in
Blaise Foote with a productive groundo ut. A pair of singles from Foote and Benoit an inning later plated four runs for a 5-0 lead.
The Saints (10-13, 6-4 RRAC) responded by pushing across nine runs across the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.
Trailing 9-5 in the top of the ninth, Dugas led off with a double. He advanced to third on a ground out and scored two batters later on an RBI single from
Landon Langley. A walk to Foote loaded the bases. Benoit drove in
Julien Kliebert, who pinch ran for
Judge Boudreaux after a walk, cutting the deficit to 9-7. The Saints forced a ground out to seal the victory.
LSUA plays OLLU in a doubleheader tomorrow, March 8, starting at noon.
