No. 15 Softball Picks Up Two Wins Over No. 23 Campbellsville and Mobile

GULF SHORE, AL – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria took both games on day two of the Gulf Shores Invitational. The Generals (16-2, 6-0 RRAC) recorded a 7-0 win over No. 23 Campbellsville, before taking down the University of Mobile in eight innings, 7-5.

GAME ONE | NO. 15 LSUA 7, NO. 23 CAMPBELLSVILLE 0
A pair of crooked numbers in the first and fourth innings propelled the Generals to a 7-0 victory over the Tigers (10-5).

Haley Primrose (9-2) threw a complete game shutout. She allowed just four hits and struck out five.

Julia Kwakernaak finished 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in a pair. Madi Baker and Jillian Howell also drove in two runs each.

A single from Howell in the first inning plated two runs and gave LSUA an early 2-0 lead. Following two scoreless innings, the Generals' bats exploded for five runs in the fourth.

Baker brought Molly Sistrunk and Haley Fontenot in to score with a two-run single down the right field line. Kwakernaak then doubled down the left field line to drive in Kilee Moody and Baker. A sacrifice fly from Kaetlyn Dunbar brought in Kwakernaak for a 7-0 lead.

Primrose struck out the final hitter of the game to clinch the victory.

GAME TWO | NO. 15 LSUA 7, MOBILE 5
It took extra innings, but LSUA took down Mobile 7-5. The Generals scored three runs in the eighth for the win.

Kwakernaak launched a two-run homerun in the first but a three-run bottom of the inning for the Rams (12-6) put Mobile ahead 3-2.

A pair of back-to-back doubles in the second from Sistrunk and Fontenot scored a pair in the second but again the Rams responded. In the bottom of the third, Mobile plated a run with an RBI single, tying the game at 4-4.

The bats for both sides went quiet until the eighth.

Primrose brought in Kwakernaak on a fielder's choice to put the Generals ahead 5-4. Dunbar then drove in Primrose with a single to center. Fontenot added another insurance run, driving in Dunbar with a single of her own.

Mobile pushed across one run in the eighth, but Primrose shut the door to seal the victory. Primrose (10-2) earned the win with 3.1 innings of relief. She struck out four, allowed four hits, and one unearned run.
